Born in Delicias, Chihuahua, in northern Mexico, in 1964, Paulo has been in contact with the world of creativity since childhood.
Encouraged by his parents, he gave free rein to his imagination. In 1981-1982, he studied English in Antioch, California, where, in addition to language, he taught art classes. However, his priestly vocation was stronger, so he began his seminary studies, including and integrating artistic development into his training. His first solo exhibition took place upon completion of his studies.
From then on, and after his studies in Rome, Italy, Paulo has grown year after year in the development of his own painting. His work has been published in various important Catholic media, including missals, books, and newspapers. His work has transcended the Catholic sphere and has also been published by Christian churches of other religious denominations.

The evolution of Paulo Medina's work has had as a common denominator the use of color in an expressionist manner, generally using vigorous, loose, free brushstrokes.
The use of impasto creates necessary volumes, especially for highlighting the human figure within semi-figurative contexts. From abstraction to the narrative of biblical scenes, his work utilizes a variety of formats and techniques. Acrylic paint predominates in his work, although he also incorporates other materials such as colored pencil, pastel, and other media.

Digital art has also been a factor in the artist's work. He has been experimenting for several decades, capturing it on screens and in book publications. This art thus finds a material medium that contains it. There is therefore an interrelation between the digital and the physical painting on a canvas, as both techniques feed off each other.
