Santa Cecilia
“Saint Cecilia” is the third painting in the “Transfigurations” series and the first in which red takes on bodily form. Its structure consists of four concentric frames: an outer one in grayish olive green, a second in yellowish bone white, a third in intense vermilion red, and a center in highly diluted gold—appearing almost beige—in the shape of a veiled sun.
