Second Chihuahuan Painting Exhibition
Casa Redonda Chihuahua Museum of Contemporary Art
The Casa Redonda Chihuahua Museum of Contemporary Art invited state painters who wished to participate in the Second Chihuahua Painting Exhibition.
Fortunately, the call was well received, and fifty artists submitted one hundred and thirty works. The selection was then made by a three-person jury. They were: Mónica López Velarde from the Soumaya Museum, Rosa María Rodríguez from the FEMSA Collection (Old Museum of Monterrey), and Javier Cortez from the Arroyo de la Plata Gallery in Zacatecas.
They selected forty-four paintings by twenty-eight artists. For this unique occasion, we have invited, as honorary figures, the work of masters Eugenio Flores Reyes (1943) and José Lucero (1953).
At Casa Redonda, we are confident that with exhibitions of established artists, combined with gatherings of emerging painters, as is the case with this show, the quality of our artists' paintings will continue to improve.
We are thrilled, as are the participants of the Second Exhibition, to see their works hanging on the Casa Redonda walls for the first time (in most cases).
We would like to thank the Chihuahuan Institute of Culture for their support of these activities, as well as the honorary teachers (Flores Reyes and Lucero), and the fifty participants of this Second Chihuahuan Painting Exhibition.
