Solo exhibition at the Municipal Media Library.

Kenosis

Paulo Medina is a romantic in his vision of himself as an explorer of inner reality, in the value he places on the personal vision of an artist endowed with intuition. Kénosis is a commentary on Expressionism and its current possibilities, and it is also a search for immediacy and presence that results in a realistic poetic. Central to this exhibition is the artist as a maker of images, especially of the body. Medina has accustomed us to a plurality of poetics, to an intelligent and sensitive use of genres—self-portrait, portrait, lyrical landscape, still life, nude—to a subjectivity that shares inner realities from outside or within, to a continuation of the current search for Christian figuration. Without denying all of the above, for me, Kenosis is above all a return to the figure, as one among numerous possibilities of form… Roberto Ransom
